Innovative Programming
SPACE is designed from the ground up to provide the most innovative programming available for pediatric therapy in the Houston area. We are currently the only clinic in Houston to provide DIRFloortime® and Applied Behavior Analysis under one roof.
We are housed in a state of the art facility with specialized equipment designed to impact developmental milestones for all ages, integrating the brain and body connection in a fun and safe atmosphere.
SPACE programs are all developed by highly skilled and trained clinicians that foster the development of the whole child including fitness, development, and the brain-body connection.

Comprehensive
When it comes to your child’s therapy, one size does not fit all. We treat the whole child by understanding “why” challenges arise and then providing a multi-dimensional treatment plan focusing on needs specifically tailored to your child and family. We are proud of our collaborative therapeutic environment that draws from various techniques, approaches and programs to provide more comprehensive treatment and a holistic approach..
Convenient
Our SPACE offers all forms of pediatric therapy under one roof! This unique environment allows parents to continue working without having to drive all over Houston to find services. Our therapy, classes and after hours care provides therapeutic time throughout the whole day.
Cost Effective
At SPACE, our intention is to provide a solution to the ongoing healthcare crisis that limits insurance companies from providing adequate but critical services to our children. Our innovative open-gym model is designed to offer alternative ways to receive services when insurance limits payments and/or patient maximums are reached. Families are able to join the gym with membership packages to continue therapeutic home exercise programs and attend classes and camps to fill the gaps.

Coaching,
Training & Education
SPACE strives to be a source of education and training for our parents, our staff and the broader community.
Parents: We encourage parents to join sessions and be an active participant in therapy planning and process. This trains parents to better understand their child’s unique profile, challenges, strengths and ways to implement strategies at home for faster progress.
Clinicians: We provide superior employee training by going above the recommended minimum requirements in education and look for team members that are collaborative, innovative and open-minded.
Community: We participate in community outreach events to provide support and quality education to healthcare providers, professionals, parents and caregivers.
The History of SPACE
Family First Speech Therapy and Kids Connect Occupational Therapy, founded in 2014, have merged their practices to bring you SPACE Therapy & Gym. SPACE stands for Social Play and Creative Education and is a comprehensive therapeutic clinic. Our mission is to serve busy families by offering a unique SPACE and quality services – all under one roof.
The Beginning
Vanessa and Michelle met in 2004 while working for the Bridges Program at Texas Children’s Hospital. Together, they completed their DIRFloortime® training and worked together until 2011.
Kids Connect & Family First Open
After starting their own families and ten years of pediatric practice, Michelle and Vanessa created Kids Connect OT (KCOT) and Family First Speech (FFST) in 2014.
Community Involvement
Vanessa and Michelle spent the next 5 years working in the community. They helped establish DIRFloortime® in the Houston community, graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and continued to add new programs to their own two clinics. The pair has also been active in supporting the disability community by participating in local events.
The Beginning
SPACE, (Social Play And Creative Education) Therapy & Gym is set to open to the public in the Summer of 2020. We cannot wait to welcome families through our front doors!
Building has Begun!
Plans have been drawn up and demolition has begun in the creation of the brand new pediatric center SPACE.
SPACE is Born
In 2019 Vanessa and Michelle’s dream is brought to life with the purchase of the land for SPACE. SPACE will be a first of its kind clinic, bringing all of the pediatric therapy models under one roof.
The Pathway to SPACE
The Beginning
