Miss Gina’s 2020 Book List
With more time spent at home, reading took center stage for me in 2020. Four books particularly impacted me this year, and I hope they might equally inspire you in your journey as a parent! To help you achieve the best bond with your child, here is Miss Gina’s 2020 book list:
This book provides 12 key strategies to understanding and connecting with your child to promote social-emotional growth and a strong foundation for further emotional development.
No-Drama Discipline by Dan Siegel, MD – My favorite nonfiction read of 2020!
This book reiterated that the word “discipline” really means “teachable moments,” through which parents can connect emotionally, talk about what happened, and then explore how to proceed the next time your child has that life experience.
This book will empower you to embrace all emotions, the “good” and the “bad,” and give you as a parent concrete steps (recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate) to explore and manage emotions within your family’s lived experiences.
Despite growing up with a sibling on the autism spectrum, I was not well-versed in the history of autism until reading this book. This 500 page read provides a well-rounded historical perspective with personal anecdotes sprinkled throughout on autism.
