Help for Harvey Activity Backpacks
Friends and Families
We are proud to be a part of the great state of Texas! The Houston community has come together to support one another in this time of recovery and rebuilding from the events of Hurricane Harvey. We are reaching out to families with special needs children who would benefit from an Activity Backpack. These backpacks are available free of charge to families who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
The items included are targeted to help support the comfort and regulation of children with special needs; those with autism spectrum disorder, communication and sensory processing challenges, and other neurological disorders.
Family First Speech Therapy and Kids Connect Occupational Therapy have partnered with Profectum to better assist families that need specialized relief. Profectum Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to support the development for individuals and families with special needs.
The Activity backpacks include written materials for parents and children with helpful tips for dealing with stress and anxiety, fun activities to do with children, and tips for helping children stay regulated during stressful times such as after a natural disaster. Although each backpack will be unique, they will all include items such as fidget toys/spinners, activity books, crayons, and stuffed animals.
We are asking organization representatives to contact us to assist families in need. If a child has a specific need, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
